Senior Scientist (Process Development)

Position Summary:
To undertake process development and manufacturing scale-up of protein production.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Integrate the process development function with the R&D function (upstream) and the manufacturing function (downstream) in a holistic approach.
- Day-to-day management of the process development team.
- To act as a touch point between R&D and Manufacturing to produce pilot-scale proteins to enable early-phase R&D activities.
- Balance the use of internal resources and external partners/vendors for maximum impact.
- Responsible for the resolution of all technical and scientific issues that affect, or have the potential to affect, the delivery of materials to internal project teams and partners.
- Lead design and implementation of the fermentation, purification process, scale-up, and operations.
- Identify resource requirements for development, scale-up, and troubleshooting activities. Effectively utilise the existing resource, work across operational management on resourcing requirements and company leadership on long-term resource requirements.
- Continuously identify and implement leading-edge innovations in relevant areas of fermentation, purification, and scale-up bioprocesses.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of the characteristics of protein components required for DNA amplification techniques.
- In-depth experience with fermentation, protein purification and scale-up bioprocesses.
- Experience in leading and overseeing process development projects and facility build.
- Experience in building and deploying innovation in a process development setting.
- Able to build and manage a strong team.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications / Education:
PHD in Biochemistry
