Mike Haggis-Powell
Lead Scientist – Research & DevelopmentMichael Haggis-Powell is a Lead Scientist providing technical oversight for the first and next-generation development programs for home-use molecular diagnostics. His role encompasses systems integration and technical development of the device/biochemistry and oversight of the continued development of paper-based diagnostics. Prior to this, he was a senior scientist responsible for developing the LFT chemistry in-house.
Previously, he has worked in the field of point-of-care molecular diagnostics for >10 years developing amplification and nucleic acid lateral flow detection methods, in a spin-out developing diagnostics for resource-limited settings and subsequently TwistDx, both of which led to patent filings and relevant publications. He has also held positions working on the development of sample preparation strategies for single molecule, next-generation sequencing, also the subject of recent high-impact publications.
Prior to his work in the biotech industry, Michael held roles in academia for 9 years, working primarily in the field of protein synthesis research, predominantly in the field of molecular virology.
